Prescription strength GLP-1/HCG weight loss medications are self-injectable drugs administered subcutaneously (under the skin) once a week. These weight loss shots are either a single-dose, pre-filled pen injector (Wegovy, Zepbound and Mounjaro) or a multi-dose vial injection (Semaglutide and Tirzepatide).
These prescription treatments fall under two separate categories: Zepbound (Active ingredient - Tirzepatide) and Wegovy (Active ingredient - Semaglutide) are FDA approved GLP-1 HCG for chronic weight management medication.
Mounjaro (Active ingredient - Tirzepatide) is FDA approved GLP-1 obesity management for Diabetic, Insulin Resistance (PCOS) and Prediabetics.
Prescription strength GLP-1/HCG weight loss treatments are mostly indicated for adults with obesity (initial BMI 30 kg/m2) or overweight (initial BMI 27 kg/m2) with at least one weight-related medical condition such as Diabetes, Hypertension, Hyperlipidemia or arthritis.
Common side effects when using either of these medications may include Nausea, Reflux, Abdominal cramps, Diarrhea, Vomiting, headache, and Constipation. The risk of serious side effects increases in patients with hypoglycemia, kidney problems, and risk of allergic skin reactions.
Suitable for weight loss patients with binge eating habits, excessive unhealthy carb cravings and patients who are depressed or lack the motivation to stay consistent in achieving their weight loss goals.
Suitable for the weight loss patient who needs both appetite curbing and has either sleep-related eating disorders, night-time snackers, or specific cravings.
Phentermine: Works effectively as an appetite suppressant and prevents excessive eating.
Rybelsus: Oral form of Semaglutide suitable for weight loss patients with poor glycemic control or insulin resistance due to Diabetes Type 2 or PCOS
Acarbose: Suitable for self-proclaimed “carb lovers;” weight loss patients who have insulin resistance/metabolic syndrome known as PCOS.
NB: You may be prescribed a second line medication to piggyback on your individualized weight loss package as a great weight loss add on. This decision is usually based on the assessment of the patient’s medical history and weight loss progress by our experienced weight loss Provider.
